Stage Lighting I Syllabus

To create an understanding of the basic elements of electricity and circuitry and physics of light applied to theatre practices, terms, and equipment used.
To cultivate and practice the skills allowing the student to operate as a stage lighting technician at OCU and at a variety of professional venues.
To familiarize the student with the terminology, processes, and tools utilized in creating and implementing a lighting design. This will enable a student to interpret a light plot and paperwork, hang/cable/focus lighting equipment, and operate a lighting console for a production.
To prepare the student for further courses in Stage Lighting Design, where each student will have the opportunity to design lighting for production in a variety of spaces.
